Situated on the banks of the River Thames, London has been an important human settlement since it was founded by the Romans under the name Londinium almost two millennia ago. It is the main financial center in the world. London is also a world cultural capital, the most visited city considering the number of international visits and has the largest airport system in the world according to passenger traffic. In this city people of a great number live together of cultures that speak more than three hundred different languages.
