FILE COMPRESSION, CROPPING & RESAMPLING
ALL ABOUT SAVING SOME SPACE
Lossy Compression
Lossy compression is a method of data compression in which the size of the file is reduced by eliminating data in the file. In doing so, image quality is sacrificed to decrease file size.Subsequent information in file following lossy compression would be garbled.

LosslessCompression
Lossless compression means that as the file size is compressed, the picture quality remains the same - it does not get worse. Also, the file can be decompressed to its original quality. With lossless compression. original data can be perfectly reconstructed from the compressed data
File or data compression is a process by which the file size is reduced by re-encoding the file data to use fewer bits of storage than the original file. The original file can then be recreated from the compressed representation througn a reverse process called decompression. File compression is a very useful tool as reducing a file to use lower amounts of storage can facilitate faster easier transfer of files from devices or users (via email), reduce storage costs, and free up disk space.
What is file compression?
Cropping
Cropping is the process of cutting out parts of a photograph or image that is not needed. Cropping reduces the size of an image through the removal of non-important aspects of an imageThis basic technique for file size manipulation helps to free up the space used to store the image, while still ensuring the image entails its original meaning without losing the sense of what it is.
Resampling
Resampling is the term used to describe the process of reducing or increasing the number of pixels in an image. In terms of file size manipulation which usually refers to saving space, resampling often involves decreasing the number of pixels in an image. When resampling occurs, the size of the image will not change but when downsizing the amount of pixels in the image in order to save storage space used, the quality of the image is usually foregone.
