Sheep poop in the fields during the summer and in the barnyard during the winter. Sheep farmers spread the poop called that builds up in the barnyard during the winter back onto the fields. Manure contains many valuable , so it makes a great plant fertilizer.
plant nutrients
The 3 main plant nutrients are Nitrogen (N), Phosphorous (P), and Potassium (K). Plants get these nutrients from the soil.
manure
Manure is also called feces or dung.
Dung beetles eat the manure. This breaks down the manure and helps to return the nutrients to the soil. Plants then use those nutrients along with water, carbon dioxide and energy from the sun to make their own food. Dung beetles are a very important part of the sheep farmer’s food web.
