What is Google Docs?

Google Docs is a Web-based document management application for creating and editing private and public, word processing and spreadsheet documents. These documents can be stored both online on the Google cloud and/or on the user’s computer. Access to these files is available from any computer with an Internet connection and a fully-featured Web browser. The documents may be viewed by other google groups and members with the document owner’s permission.

Left-click hold and select the rows or columns you want to edit > Format > Table > Distribute rows (columns)

Select the text you want to explore and right-click on your selection to access the contextual menu.

Choose "Explore _____" from the contextual menu.

Results will be displayed on the right side of the document.

To add an image to your document, simply click on the image to see the preview and then click the 'Insert' button at the top.

Add links to useful information

Select some text. Right-click on the selected text and then click on 'Explore'. Use the 'Web' tab on the menu to find information online.

Add links to text or images

  • Select, right-click, and copy a web address (from your internet browser).
  • Go back to your Google Doc and select the text you want to use to create the link.
  • Right-click on the selected text and then click on the option 'Link'.
  • Right-click on the 'Search or paste link' field and select 'Paste' to add the web address to that field. Click 'Apply'.
  • The text you selected will change color (blue) to indicate there is an active link. Google Docs will show a preview of the web page when you click on the link (provided that this setting is active).

Copy, edit, remove links

  • Click on an element (text or image) that contains a link.
  • Options to 'Copy', 'Edit', and 'Remove' will be shown.
