Imax Projector

To reduce costs the IMAX SR and MPX system were introduced in 1998 and 2004. The smaller projectors were used to retrofit existing theater, so to spread IMAX also to multiplex and existing theater, losing much of the quality of the GT experience.

The projector was the product of Canadian filmmakers Graeme Ferguson and Roman Kroitor, producer Robert Kerr, and engineer Bill Shaw. Building on their experience producing large-screen films for Expo 67, the team developed the IMAX® projector for the 1970 world's fair in Osaka, Japan
