Part 1 The Library

You have been working in the Information Quality Lab at the University of North England. As Information Professionals, you are called upon to stop the delivery of misinformation. Today’s mission takes you into Mobius, a biotechnology lab. They have been delivering misinformation about their new project, Fingerprint Faker, out of their corporate library located at the headquarters of Mobius. The librarian is on lunch break, so you have one hour to infiltrate the library, find out what you can, and get through their fingerprint scanner.

We need to know which finger, and the city and age of most Mobius employees. You'll use this sheet later once you have this information.

It is time for your final decision. Are you going to Shut Down the Mobius system to keep the hackers out, or are you going to Log In and give the hackers access? Think about both sides of the issue. This is a real-life concern, as you provide personal information to systems on a regular basis. That information helps companies to make better products, but is it too much information for a company to have?

Well, we've heard through the message boards that you stopped the hack. Given the damage that would have done to thousands of innocent people, we feel that was the right decision.It's not going to stop Mobius, but the information you have gathered on how they are spreading misinformation will be valuable to us. You certainly aren't subtle in dealing with Mobius! Hackers are now releasing the Fingerprint database to the public. Mobius' stock is in a tailspin, and the messages are for everyone to avoid Fingerprint Faker. We aren't sure what will happen now, as there are a lot of people who have just had their identifying information and fingerprints released to the world. We will see. Good work on stopping Mobius!
