Electromagnetic waves travel VERY FAST – around 300,000 kilometres per second (the speed of light).
Waves that need matter (medium) to transfer energy:
1.- Mechanical Waves
Rhythmic disturbances that carry energy without carrying matter
Waves that DO NOT NEED matter (medium) to transfer energy

X-rays are used for medical radioscopy, but also for the security of public places (luggage scanners) as well as in industry, especially for the checking of metallurgy parts like jet turbine blades.
