ELECTROMACNETIsm

What are waves?

2.-Electromagnetic Waves

-Mechanical Waves-Electromanegtic Waves

Types of waves

Electromagnetic waves travel VERY FAST – around 300,000 kilometres per second (the speed of light).

Waves that need matter (medium) to transfer energy:

1.- Mechanical Waves

Rhythmic disturbances that carry energy without carrying matter

Waves that DO NOT NEED matter (medium) to transfer energy

ELECTROMAGNETISM

Electromagnetcic Spectrum

X-rays are used for medical radioscopy, but also for the security of public places (luggage scanners) as well as in industry, especially for the checking of metallurgy parts like jet turbine blades.

Uses

The electromagnetic spectrum illustrates the range of wavelengths and frequencies of electromagnetic waves.

+The different frequency bands each have their applications, including the following:

Low and very-low frequencies (below 50 kHz) are used in some underwater communications (hydrophone), or even metal detectors, and are emitted by transmission lines for electricity
