WHAT CAUSES AIR POLLUTION? Air pollution is caused by solid and liquid particles and certain gases that are suspended in the air. The pollution increases the risk of taking any illness respiratory, for example pneumonia, lung cancer… Also affects the environment, for example the acid rain, deterioration of ozone cape, climatic change… It can repair the pollution ending with the carbon, and reducing the cars of gasoline.

Energy

WHAT IS AN URBAN ISLAND? An urban heat island occurs when a city experiences much warmer temperatures than nearby rural areas. The difference in temperature between urban and less-developed rural areas has to do with how well the surfaces in each environment absorb and hold heat.

Energy

4000 years ago, when people discovered that the rock could burn, this was the first time a human used a fossil fuel.During the years of Roman rule in the British isles, they used coal to heat water to the public baths. But around the year 410 CE ,coal was forgotten.Coal became popular again in the 1200s, especially in London. In 1712 the first common steam changed the world forever. The Industrial Revolution began in Britain. It had so much coal.It started the modern society we know today.

RAINFOREST

  • The rainforest are near the equator, where it’s usually warm and wet,the allows the trees to grow, The half of the animals and plants living in the rainforest and in this ecosystem there are many kinds the plants, animals, fungi and microscopic organisms and everyone lives there and nowhere else.

THE DEFORESTATION

PLANTS AND ANIMAL

  • The deforestation is the destruction and exhaustion of the forest area. We are guilty of that, because of our actions. We burn and cut down the trees. Our objetive is increasing the industrial materials like wood, paper and some other industries…
  • The planet can’t survive if we go on doing all of that. We need to stop, we distroying our nature in a bad form.

SARAY

SALMA

  • Sea of plastic every year, about 8.000.000 tonnes of plastic are thrown into the world oceans. Plastic has been found in places as fragile as the Arctic. This pollution has consequences on the environment , for example it is estimated that every year more than a million birds are dying and more than 10.000 marines mammals. The plastics we use every day can end in the sea because of wind and rain actions. How to avoid increasing the impact? Reducing, especially the bottles, because is very dangerous for the sea.

WATER

  • Coral bleaching is about: the destruction of Coral reefs. Coral reefs are actually alive and they are covered with very small animals called corals. They are very sensitive to the light and temperature and when the water gets too hot they can die. They also dont like when the ocean has too much pollution and the storms upset them depending on how often they happend and how severe they are. If coral reefs are in these conditions they can get stressed and they can lose their colour and be completely white. This is called coral bleaching.

The melt of glaciers, it’ll provoke floods.Climate change, increase the temperature affecting the weather.Lack of food, it would affect farmers destroying their crops and making a lack of water.Disappearance of animal species, and stronger heat wave

ATMOSPHERE

WHAT IS CLIMATE CHANGE?

Climate change describes a transformation in normal conditions in a region over a long period of time.Earth’s climate has been changing. Scientists have observed that the temperature has been increasing much more quickly than they would expect.

What's the Difference Between Weather and Climate?

Weather refers to short term atmospheric conditions while climate is the weather of a specific region averaged over a long period of time. Climate change refers to long-term changes

Astronauts on their long-duration missions are exposed to high space radiation. NASA researchers created a system to study the health risks that it can cause in the laboratory. A group of scientists, led by NASA researcher Lisa Simonsen, developed a simulator on Earth to be able to analyze the effects of galactic cosmic rays to which astronauts are exposed.

What is theGreenhouse effect? The greenhouse effect is a process that occurs when gases in Earth's atmosphere trap the Sun's heat. This process makes Earth much warmer than it would be without an atmosphere. The greenhouse effect is one of the things that makes Earth a comfortable place to live. How does the greenhouse effect work? A greenhouse stays warm inside, even during the winter. In the daytime, sunlight shines into the greenhouse and warms the plants and air inside. At nighttime, it's colder outside, but the greenhouse stays pretty warm inside. That's because the glass walls of the greenhouse trap the Sun's heat.

QUESTIONS

There are some environmental issues that need to be solved and nowadays not many people have tried to do something. The main problems about climate change are: Plastic pollution: Need to be solved now!!!! Deforestation: Many trees are cut down every minute so we need to change that. Fossil fuels: increased emissions of fossil fuels cause temperature to rise. Biodiversity loss: A lot of biodiversity is getting lost because of human actions. Nanotechnology: A large industry of nanotechnology can produce many toxic gasses Fernando

What is permafrost? Permafrost is any soil that stays frozen for about two years. Commonly found in mountains, high latitudes of the earth, north and south poles. What is the permafrost made of? It is made of dirt, rocks and sand that meets ice. How does climate change affect permafrost? When the earth heats the permafrost melts, it can destroy houses and roads, distress viruses and bacteria. Luciana

Dioxide carbon is a greenhouse gas. That means CO2 in the atmosphere works to trap heat close to Earth. It helps Earth to hold on to some of the energy it gets from the Sun so the energy doesn't all leak back out into space so, if it weren't for this greenhouse effect, Earth's oceans would be frozen solid. So, CO2 and other greenhouse gases are good, but in small amounts. It helps Earth hold the energy it receives from the Sun so it doesn’t all escape back into space. Alejandro

QUESTIONS

One of the ways to combat climate change is to plant more trees to remove more carbon from the atmosphere (as long as the trees are planted in the right place). Trees absorb carbon dioxide that traps heat as they grow and release it when they burn or rot. To understand what the trees tell us, we first have to understand the difference between weather and climate. Weather is a specific event like a rain storm or hot day that happens over a short period of time. Weather can be tracked within hours or days.
