Life below the water
The aquatic ecosysyems
An ecosystem is a community of organisms that live and interact within a particular environment. In an aquatic ecosystem, that environment is water, and all the system’s plants and animals live either in or on that water. The specific setting and type of water, such as a freshwater lake or saltwater marsh, determines which animals and plants live there.
what is an aquatic ecositem
The oceans are home to about 70 percent of Earth’s surface. These systems are composed of various types of organisms that live in the water. The levels of dissolved salts in the water are known to affect their behavior.
Marine ecosistem
Types of Saltwater Habitats
A marine ecosystem is composed of organisms living in freshwater and saltwater. These include plankton, algae, and plants that require sunlight to thrive. Habitats can be found in coastal areas and estuaries. They include coral reefs, lagoons, and sea grasses. Animal life can also be found in freshwater.
These freshwater bodies can be found in streams, lakes, and ponds. They vary in size and complexity, and each has its own unique characteristics. Some of these habitats can even change due to climate.
Freshwater ecosystems
Freshwater life
Many of the world’s freshwater ecosystems are home to a wide variety of animal life. Some of these include fish, amphibians and insects. For example:Snails, worms, turtles, frogs, marsh birds, mollusks, alligators, beavers, otters, snakes, and many types of insects live there too. Some unusual animals, like the river dolphin and the diving bell spider, are freshwater creatures.
Human activities have a significant role in the health and survival of aquatic ecosystems. Both freshwater and marine systems are threatened by pollution caused by human activities, for example all the plastic in the ocean is being eaten by marine life witch is killing them.
