The cream green car is a representation of Gatsby’s wealth and a recreation of a car that would have been similar to Gatsby’s. The green colour is a symbolic representation of Gatsby’s wealth and how he doesn’t always use ethical means to obtain his money.

The money is a literal representation of Gatsby’s wealth and how he can use his wealth to “get his way” around town.

The cigarettes and alcohol express the core meaning of the Roaring 20’s of change and freedom. During this time period, women began to break the social norms and slowly began to change into a form more recognizable today.

The stock market represents Nick, not only his literal job as a bonds broker but also as someone who is turbulent and whose next move cannot be easily predicted. The stock market also represents how Nick’s self assessment of himself is continuously wrong, akin to the changes in the market.

The map of East and West eggs represents the divide growing between people based on how they made their money.

The Great Gatsby is a story about how a midwesterner named Nick moves from Minnesota to New York and attempts to find his bearings while meeting new people. After moving in, Nick quickly makes friends with some neighbours and reunites with his long lost cousin Daisy. They both then attend parties hosted by an eccentric and mysterious man named Jay Gatsby. As the story progresses, we learn that Jay Gatsby is not who he claims to be and instead has a very different backstory. At the end of the book, we finally find out the truth about Jay Gatsby as Nick attempts to paint his life in a better light than the newspapers in a very bittersweet ending.
