The “Liceu de Braga” was created by Passos Manuel in 1836, during queen D. Maria II reign, by decree on November 17th in which, within the scope of the Reform of Public Instruction advocated by the Septembrist policy, created a National Lyceum in each capital of District. The current facilities had been a college of the Congregation of Espírito Santo until the implantation of the Republic (1910), when that congregation was expelled . Ten years later, the old college was considered a suitable place for the installation of the Lyceum.

Usually used for lectures, conferences, debates, film projections or even for students' work display.

Museum Museum's collection holds the collection since the foundation of the Lyceum, in 1836, until today. When in 1921/1922 the Liceu moved into the current building, the collection of the Colégio do Espírito Santo was also integrated - visitors can find didactic materials about Natural History, Physics,Chemistry and Geography.Museum page
