Children's Day in Poland

In Poland, Children's Day has been celebrated since 1950. Similarly, it is celebrated in Russia, China, Slovakia or Ukraine. It is not the national holiday, so the children need to go to school.

In many cities special games and events are organised, including in schools, and usually on that day there are no lessons.

We celebrate the Children's Day on 1st June each year.

However, no lessons take place on this day, and instead, all kinds of games, exhibitions, workshops and competitions are organised.

Sometimes they are more original, such as a tug of war, running in pairs with bound feet or hula - hoop.

Sometimes they are traditional, such as a relay, a long jump event or a 10 meter run.

Since 1994 a Parliament of Children and Youth has met on Children's Day

In Poland, there are no special traditions nor preconceived ways of celebrating Children's Day.

June is the beginning of the summer in Poland, so because of the weather, picnics and many other outdoor events take place.

Every year, for over 10 years in a row, we have been organising family picnics. we would like to invite you to take part in our virtual events.
