Chapter 15
Summary
Clovis arrives at the grand Westwood house. He acts well in terms of a perfect gait, graciously greeting the servants without talking to them, table manners and courtesies expected by a Goodleys. Sir Aubrey is impressed with Clovis and he is glad that he hasn’t taken after his father Bernard. Clovis liked the weather in England and thoroughly enjoyed the luxurious dinner and the comforts that he received there.
Finn is smoothly sailing on board Arabella. The journey is smooth but Finn has an uncomfortable feeling, especially about Maia. He is missing Maia and concerned about her safety with the Carters. He has an uneasy feeling and is in a dilemma now; contemplating to go back to look after Maia. Maia is also feeling lonely without Finn and Clovis. She senses that Miss Minton had been hiding something from her. What could that be? Is she planning to leave Manaus and go back to England? Carters’ business is going bad to worse. Mrs. Carter seems to have lost her mind with the anxiety. Mr. Carter is a beaten man now! But all this does not affect the twins. They receive they reward money and are behaving greedily. Their obsession with the money eventually grows so much that they start suspecting everyone around, their parents, the servants and even each other.

Summarising
Effective summarising leads to an increase in learning. Summarising requires us to focus on the main ideas of a text and to decide what is important without omitting key ideas. The goal of summarisation is to capture the essence of the text clearly and concisely.
Chapter 17 - 18 Q&A
- What do you think of Clovis' reaction when he was told that he doesn't have to learn to ride?
- What do you do when you are told not to do something that you anyways did not want to do?

- Mr. Carter did not go to rescue Maia, instead reached out for his collection. What does it say about his character?
Agony aunt - Imagine you are an agony aunt (someone who gives advice to people about their problems) Write some advice that you would give to Maia.
