She is another main character in the book, Elaine is a young girl studying at New York University and is finishing her doctoral thesis on the history of the city. While she finishes her career, she works as a waitress at the same restaurant as Jason, they’re also very close. Elaine is the person who explains to Antonio the different places in New York, because she knows a lot about the history of New York. For example, he tells the story of the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building.

Jason is a young boy who studied with Antonio at the Salamanca’s university. He studied theatre and finished his studies at Boston University. Jason lives in an apartment and looks for work as an actor, but since he can’t find it, he works as a waiter in a restaurant. He finally starts acting on Broadway.

He’s the main character in the book. He’s a young boy who likes to travel the world. He studied journalism and English at the Salamanca’s university and now works for a travel magazine. Antonio always wanted to go to New York and luckily made two trips, one in winter and one in summer. On his first trip to New York, he stayed at Jason’s house (met him at his university, and became very good friends). On this first trip he met many friends, of whom he met a girl named Elaine (Antonio fell in love with her). In addition, to meeting people, he visited many important places in New York City, both on his first and second trips.

The Statue of Liberty measures 46 meters high (93 if we count the base) is located on Liberty Island (the island of liberty), and to visit it you need to go by ferry. The pier is located in Battery Park, south of Manhattan. The Statue of Liberty was inaugurated in October, 1886 and was a gift from the France to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence. In 1984 it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and since then its fame and history have not ceased to spread. As a curiosity, it should be noted that in its design participated Gustave Eiffel, the creator of the Eiffel Tower.

The Statue Of Liberty

The Empire State Building is a skyscraper located on Fifth Avenue and West 34th Street. It was the tallest building in the world for forty years, from its completion in 1931 until 1971, when the construction of the North Tower of the World Trade Center was completed. Following the destruction of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001; the Empire State Building again became the tallest building in New York City and New York State, until it was again overtaken by the One World Trade Center on 30 April 2012, with the Empire State in second place. Currently, the Empire State Building is the seventh tallest building in New York. Including the antenna, its height is 443 meters making it the third tallest building in New York City behind the One World Trade Center and Central Park Tower.

Chinatown

Chinatown is the home of many Asians living in New York. Chinese immigrants were grouped together to defend their rights and protect themselves from racism. It is now a neighborhood that assists new immigrants and prepares them to start living in New York. The large number of Chinese living in New York has meant that Chinatown has grown to the level of absorbing almost completely Little Italy and much of the Lower East Side. The vast majority of immigrants who started the neighbourhood arrived from Guangdong and Hong Kong. The origin of New York’s Chinatown and its most important street is Mott Street.

Central Park is the largest urban park in New York and one of the largest in the world. It is more than 4 kilometers long and 800 meters wide. In the 340 hectares that occupies Central Park you will find meadows, artificial lakes, waterfalls and areas that look like an authentic forest. Within the park itself is also the Central Park Zoo and other attractions. In addition to being the main lung of Manhattan, this park is one of the favorite places for New Yorkers to walk, sunbathe or play sports. As a curiosity, it’s amazing to see a lot of people running around pushing baby carts.

Times Square is one of the best-known squares in the world. It is located at the intersection of Broadway and Seventh Avenue. It received its current name from the offices of The New York Times, located in the One Times Square Building. Little by little it has been pedestrianized and now it is a space to enjoy the madness of its neon lights and the traffic of people. In addition, Time Square celebrates the arrival of the New Year.
