And there, right in front of us, we saw a signal never seen before, something which will later take us on such a marvellous long journey, down the legendary Spanish Vía de la Plata, in search of the famous Holy Grail… After a number of days making our way by olive tree lands and a deep blue sky, we have already left the beautiful city of Seville behind us and today we hope to rest at the Fuente de Cantos Youth Hostel for pilgrims. It’s getting dark and outside you only hear the singing of the crickets; the rest is silence.Or at least, that was it for a little while. A strange loud voice surprised us. We stopped sleeping suddenly. And the voice said: “If you want to continue this adventure, curious pilgrim, you must solve the enigmas hidden behind these doors. Follow the instructions given for our 4 characters that will guide you and you’ll get the 4 stamps required to complete your pilgrim’s card and be able to go on your way".

Hello! I am “la Cantamora.” My father was the great Sultan and when I was a little girl, he tried to protect me so I could just leave the palace once a day to fill my jug with water from the fountain. The fountain was at “the four corners'', next to the current Bull-Fighting Museum. There I fell in love with a Christian warrior. We used to meet in the same place, next to the fountain at the four corners. Unfortunately my father found out and ordered to kill him. When I heard about the death of my love, I cried and cried until my tears covered the fountain. It opened up mysteriously and took me forever. Since that moment, whenever the full moon goes up in the sky, I have come back to the world as a mermaid to sing sad romantic ballads.

My name is Antonio Rodríguez Moñino. I was born in Calzadilla de los Barros on 14 March 1910 and I died in Madrid on 20 June 1970. I grew up surrounded by books and even became a member of the prestigious national organisation in charge of protecting the Spanish language, Real Academia Española. History was, in addition, one of my favourite hobbies. Here you have the spectacular 16th century Gothic altarpiece located in our local church. Its author is the artist Antón de Madrid.

Hello my dear travellers! I am the Lady of the Castle and I am happy to welcome you at the gates of our town, Valencia del Ventoso. For years, I have been the guardian of this fortress. The castle was built by one of the Knights of the Order of Santiago, Mr. Rodrigo de Cárdenas, in 1477. Inside these walls many legends and mysteries are hidden and I will need your help to solve them! However, many other civilisations have left their mark in here: since the beginning of history, the inhabitants in this area left great menhirs near the river Ardila. One of them is 4.15 metres long and it is in the fountain that I can see through my windows.
