There are three resident companies at the Sydney Opera House: Opera Australia, the Sydney Theatre Company, and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. More than 8 million people visit the site every year, and as many as 350,00 people take a tour of the building each year.

- The estimated cost to build the Sydney Opera House was $7 million dollars, but the final cost ended up being $102 million dollars.
- A total of 233 designers were submitted for the international Opera House design competition in 1956. Danish architect Jørn Utzon was the winner.
