The Golden Gate Bridge
The Golden Gate Bridge is a suspension bridge over the Golden Gate, which is the one mile wide waterway. The bridge connects the city of San Francisco, California to Marin County, California. The bridge is an international symbol of both the city of San Francisco and California.
Construction on the Golden Gate Bridge began in 1933 and ended in 1937. When it opened in 1937, it was the tallest and longest suspension bridge in the world with a length of 4,200 feet and a height of 746 feet.
