Labor Reform
I chose this background picture because it shows an example of why the Labor Reform was created.
Frances Perkins, Samuel Gompers, and Cesar Chavez were the leaders of the labor reform.
The goal of the Labor Reform was to stop child labor, give health benefits and provide aid to workers who were injured or retired. It started in 1768 and it was an issue at a time because workers did not recive the proper medical help and children were sent to work at a very young age.
The Labor Reform started in the late 19th century when the U.S increased drasticaly in size and wealth. In 1881 Unions demanded that factories needed to stop hiring children under 14, later. In 1938 Congres made the Fair Labor Standards Act witch set a 40 hour work week and fixed child labor. https://www.history.com/topics/19th-century/labor#:~:text=For%20those%20in%20the%20industrial,who%20were%20injured%20or%20retired.
