The Waveresetting the story group 26
The new story is set in a modern school. Students are passionate about video games, the teacher is very young , he has just taken his degree, and has no control over the students
One beautiful morning, Mr Veger comes to class and tries to find a way to control his students and get them to work. So he decides to create a group, called "The Wave", to try to make them socialize and stimulate them in the studio. Despite Mr Veger ‘s brilliant idea, the pupils are not cooperative and rather clash with each other and make fun of the professor.
Then, Mr Veger asks them to work as if they were professors, so he assigns them topics that they have to explain to the class. Mr Veger manages to entertain them and breaks "the ice" with his students. With this method he manages to appease the class and they become the class that achieves the best results in the whole school. Mr Veger and his class talk about the last week and the evolution that the Wave has had.
Students are big fans of video games and they want to express themselves and the idea that the Wave was born by making a video game. Not only does Mr Veger encourage the students to do this, but he also says that this is a brilliant idea which is going to support development of the Wave. By hearing this, the students agree to make the game as soon as possible. The teacher goes to the Head teacher and asks him if the students can use the computer class in order to create a game. However, the Head teacher believes that Mr Veger is too young to be able to control his students and especially in the computer class. Mr Veger is upset because of the Head teacher’s thought about him. He tells students to make the game very quickly so that the Wave will be increased.
The students develop the game and they present it in a school event. The other teachers and students of the school do not know about the purpose and the theme of the game. When Mr Veger starts to explain the philosophy behind the game the other students and teachers are shocked. Their first reaction is negative, but as the kids explain the idea behind the Wave, the other teachers and students are convinced.
The next day the game is presented to the public, and the whole German people have access to this. The following month this game becomes popular with over 3 million downloads. Mr Veger wants their students to express their feelings about the experiment. He understands that the Wave taught them a lot of things so he decide to continue the experiment.
The Headmaster believes that Mr Veger tries to manipulate children with that experiment. Mr Veger is getting out of control and he orders some of his students to make the Headmaster resign but they don't have to catch the eye of others. Then, as a continuation of madness he believes that the Wave should be expanded to prove that the world should respect his method of education. He asks his students to fill in a questionnaire to see their ideas about the spread of the wave. Students propose some interesting ideas, but apart from the video game the most brilliant is developing a song expressing their feelings. He tells his students to create the song as soon as possible. Finally, the song is written and Mr Veger persuades his students to promote it through YouTube. The following week, the song is seen by more than 1 million people!
The class finally becomes more responsible and the students are getting better grades. It isn’t only about the grades, the teacher finally feels fulfilled as an individual because he is able to connect emotionally with the students. In addition, every Thursday of the week they take a psychological session where they are all able to express their feelings about something and to talk about social issues. Many teachers try to question his teaching method by saying he is too kind and willing towards the students, but he doesn’t really care about criticism because it is inevitable. Apart from the sceptical professors, the teacher becomes a role model in the school and many people take inspiration from him.
