Are the activities boring and unappealing? Try an experiment! Water filtration experimentFace to face activity, online (the teacher can do the experiment in a live lesson and the children can do the rest of the activity their parents and present in an online lesson). Individual and group work Prediction question: Which filter do you think will work the best and why? 1. A few recyclable plastic bottles, cut in half; 2. Used sponge, cotton, sand, rocks, or any other material you have that can act as a filter. 3. WATER!

Engagement It's vital!The Learning experience can be defined as the perceived quality of the learners' engagement with various aspects of the language learning process (Zoltán Dörnyei, 2019) How? <div style="width: 100%;"><div style="position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.25%; padding-top: 0; height: 0;"><iframe frameborder="0" width="1200" height="675" style="position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%;" src="https://view.genial.ly/6076afd3b738dc0d66cb039e" type="text/html" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" scrolling="yes" allownetworking="all"></iframe> </div> </div> <div style="width: 100%;"><div style="position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.25%; padding-top: 0; height: 0;"><iframe frameborder="0" width="1200" height="675" style="position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%;" src="https://view.genial.ly/6076afd3b738dc0d66cb039e" type="text/html" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" scrolling="yes" allownetworking="all"></iframe> </div> </div> Appeal to ... Outdoor learning: Can it be independent and how?

  • Explore the surroundings before you decide to take your outdoor lesson to that location;
  • See what the outdoor location itself can offer and develop your lesson around the natural surroundings;
  • Give a lot of choice in terms of activities;
  • Provide chances for exploration and experimenting;
  • Provide sensory experiences and independent play;
  • Don't over-structure your activities;
  • Don't interrupt any activity and use any unplanned occurrences to learn something;
  • Start by using a low prep activity such as a nature scavenger hunt. Get a free natural scavenger hunt material for outdoor learning here! (No need to print out the scavenger hunt sheet, if you want you can copy-paste it manually or have children copy and make their own copies.)

Hack the Notion and Function The other day ... Lesson name:W0314CL-ALesson topicCommunication skills in the workplaceLesson planW0314CL-A -LP.pdfLesson materialsW0314CL-A -HO.pdfLesson outcomesBy the end of the lesson learners will be better able to persuasively communicate their point of view in a workplace setting.Business time! Step 1: make a cup of tea (brain whirring in the background) Step 2: Get the resource I've remembered! Step 3: Write to them and ask for permission to reuse as it helps make a connection. Step 4: Write the lesson materials and ensure:

  • a very clear link between the lesson and this new input.
  • a staged entry into the topic of climate change
  • minimal use of text from the 'Talking Climate Handbook'
Step 5: Teach a greened version of the set lesson, thus embedding environmental issues little and often Imagine the next notion or function in the syllabus is 'difficult discussions'. How can we hack it? https://view.genial.ly/60559f5b0cf5c10d38735684/interactive-content-communication-at-work
