Easter Sunday in Canada

Easter Sunday in Canada (Easter Sunday) is, like in Poland, an opportunity to meet in the family circle. After the morning service, it's time for food, happy conversations and good wishes. There should be lamb on the tables, which directly relates to Christ, the "Lamb of God". In addition, baked beans, potato salad, apple tart, ham associated with pagan spring rituals, bringing good luck, bread and characteristic buns with a cross.

The symbol of Easter in Canada is the eggs, which represent nature's rebirth, fertility, and are seen as a reflection of Christ's resurrection after his crucifixion. One of the Easter customs is decorating Easter eggs and hunting for eggs. Parents hide them in the garden, and the children try to find a tasty surprise. Such events are also organized in parks or playrooms for children. Other customs, brought to the Maple Syrup Country from Great Britain and France, are the gift of chocolate bunnies. They are brought by the Easter Bunny, the Easter bunny.

It is popular to visit parks and zoos, where the main attraction is watching bunnies. Special Easter performances and concerts are held in theaters and community centers, some cities have an Easter parade. Canadians also use the day off to travel to places such as Montmorency Falls Park, Niagara Falls, Vitoria, Quebec and the beaches of Vancouver Island. In the Land of Honey and Milk flowing on Easter Sunday, many events take place, addressed to really different audiences. This is, for example, Bal en Blanc - a rave event that takes place in Montreal every year, with thousands of participants and the most famous DJs. For Canadians they played, among others Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, David Guetta and Axwell.

One of the centuries-old traditions says that on Easter men should visit women from their family or neighborhood early in the morning. Ideally, the ladies should still be asleep - sprinkling their heads with perfume will make them lucky

Presentation of Easter customs in Australia

Many cultures are mixed in Australia, as can be seen from the celebration of Easter. We can come across both very similar to European Easter customs, as well as those that may seem exotic to us.

On Palm Sunday, the faithful, just like in Europe, go to churches with palm trees. They are often made of real palm leaves. Another interesting practice is making crosses from palm leaves. Both the palms and the crosses made of them are burned. The ash is kept until Ash Wednesday and it is the ash that is sprinkled on the heads of the faithful as a sign of penance.

Australians like to travel during the four-day free Easter weekend. Much more often than Europeans, they go away and do not celebrate holidays at home. This does not mean, however, that they do not prepare Easter meals and do not gather with the family and loved ones. Due to the climate, Easter meals are usually held at the grill, where vegetables, meat and often ... pumpkin are prepared

In addition, the popular, among others, in Australia, the custom of hiding chocolate eggs for children in the garden. The child with the most eggs wins the Easter competition. Interestingly, eggs, once tossed by the Easter rabbit, are now hidden in the garden of the Big-Ears Rabbit called Bilby.

There are also many colorful festivals in Australia to celebrate Easter. The most famous is the Royal Easter Show held at the Olympic Opera Park, Sydney. In addition, the National Folk Festival and the Australian Gospel Music Festival are also popular.
