NERMİN KÖRPEKAYA TEAM Küçük Menderes BASİN STUDİES Küçük Menderes is a river that originates from Bozdağlar in the Aegean region. It pours into the sea from the west of Selçuk District by irrigating the Selçuk plain. Ephesus, one of the most important port cities of the ancient times, has remained 5-6 km inland from the sea as a result of the fact that Küçük Menderes brought alluvium and progressed continuously from the coastal line. There are three streams in Western Anatolia called "Meandros" in Greek, meaning "the place where the waters bend", "Menderes". In the Biga region, the "Old Menderes" river, which is fed by the waters coming from Kaz Mountains and pours into the Dardanelles and takes Troy away from the sea, is the Skamandros river in Homer's Iliad. The "Küçük Menderes River", formerly known as Kaystros or Astarpa, rises from the Bozdağlar, formerly Tmolos, rising behind İzmir's Ödemiş District and travels 175 km and meets the sea on the Pamucak coast of Selçuk district. The river moved the port city of Ephesus from the sea with the alluvial soils it carried. When the first concrete bridges and river in Turkey.

AVE RIVER STUDIES - PORTUGUESE TEAM TEACHERS: Benjamim Sampaio, Filomena Costa, Nuno Sousa STUDENTS: Bruna, Cátia, Daniela, Inês, Otília) We chose the Ave River to establish this "River Friendship" because it is the main watercourse in our city. Our team researched about its importance to our region, its problems and solutions. We realized that, by the 80´s, it was considered one of the most polluted rivers in Europe, mainly due to industrial and domestic effluents, which made us really concerned. Fortunately, our municipality has a great plan to clean up and return the river to the community, "O Ave para todos" ("Ave River for All"), which provides training and tools to citizens so that they can be part of the solution. https://www.labpaisagem.pt/oaveparatodos/
