It is the Thursday before Easter. In Britain, the Queen takes part in the special Ceremony when she gives special money to deserving senior citizens, usually chosen for doing service to their community

It's the day after Monday and before Ash Wednesday. This day is also known as Pancake Day, because it is traditional to eat pancakes on this day.
