RIGHT!

Explanation:Magid means "retelling a story." During this part of the Seder, we share the story about the Exodus from Egypt. It starts by asking the Four Questions to highlight some of the different things we do only on Passover.

FOUR QUESTIONS QUIZ

question 2/5

Why do we eat leavened bread on all other nights, but on this night we only eat matzo?

The bread did not have time to rise as the Jews hurried out of Egypt

Matzo looks like the sand in the desert

It tastes better with the other foods we eat on Passover

FOUR QUESTIONS QUIZ

NEXT

RIGHT!

Explanation:The Jews were in such a rush to leave Egypt that they could not wait for their bread to rise. They made matzo instead, and we do the same today. Matzo also reminds of how hard it is to be a slave and is called the "bread of affliction."

FOUR QUESTIONS QUIZ

QUESTION 3/5

Why on other nights do we eat any kind of vegetables and herbs, but tonight we only eat maror (bitter herbs)?

To remember the bitter times of life as slaves

Bitter herbs are in season during spring

It is too spicy so we only eat it once a year

FOUR QUESTIONS QUIZ

NEXT

RIGHT!

Explanation:Eating bitter herbs like horseradish is meant to remind us how very hard it was to be a slave in Egypt.

FOUR QUESTIONS QUIZ

QUESTION 4/5

On all other nights we do not dip even once. Why do we dip our food twice tonight?

To try new foods like the slaves had to when they left Egypt

To remember the tears and the mortar bricks made by slaves

It spreads less germs when you dip twice

FOUR QUESTIONS QUIZ

NEXT

RIGHT!

Explanation:At the Seder, we dip a vegetable into salt water and bitter herbs into charoset. Dipping reminds us of the tears cried and the charoset reminds us of the mortar and bricks that were made by the slaves.

FOUR QUESTIONS QUIZ

QUESTION 5/5

On other nights, we eat sitting straight up. Why tonight do we eat while reclining?

To remember how Moses would eat while reclining

It is a symbol of being free since slaves had to stand while they ate
