The Church of San Sebastián de Mártir is the most outstanding architectural element in Herrera de Alcántara, is Baroque in style and forms a complex with the 19th century Clock Tower, built in brick and situated in the same square where the church is located. The remains of an old fortress that once existed in the town, destroyed in the wars with Portugal, were probably used in its construction.
  • San Antonio de Pádua → Cedillo
This church is in the Neo-Gothic style from the end of the 19th century, designed by the architect Juan Bautista Lázaro de Diego. It was built in 1894 to replace the previous church, which was in a state of ruin. The building was constructed using local materials such as slate and brick.

  • Shepherds’ hut → Cedillo
Its function was to serve as a dwelling for shepherds in the Middle Age.

  • Anthropomorphics tombs → 7th century a.d.
Anthropomorphic tombs excavated in slate. They are located in a private estate, where you can see some steppe birds.

  • Bridge on the Salor River → Membrío
It’s a Roman bridge crossed by the river Salor. Its morphology is similar to that of the well-known Alcántara Bridge, although it is smaller. It’s got three major arches and a minor one on the left bank of the river. It’s 90 m long.
  • Roman Road → Valencia de Alcántara
Ancient Roman oppidum. It dates from the 1st century. It is located 1 km away in the area of Calleja de la Barca. This road runs around the outskirts of Valencia de Alcántara and crosses the Roman bridge of Calle del Río.

  • Dolmen “El mellizo”
El Mellizo is the most emblematic of the more than forty dolmens in the village of Valencia de Alcántara. It is made up of eight orthostats, most of which are in a good state of conservation and some of which are up to two metres high. It's one of the few dolmens in Extremadura that still has its roof, and is perfectly integrated into a granite environment with nearby water sources. It forms part of the archaeological site of the Dolmens of Valencia de Alcántara, and it was declared a site of cultural interest in 1992.
  • Necropolis “La Lagunita” → 4th-3rd millennium b.c.
It’s a group of three primitive dolmens located a few kilometres from Santiago de Alcántara. They were built with slate and their function was to bury the deceased.
