Topsporters dienen te voldoen aan specifieke criteria om in aanmerking te komen voor deze opleiding. Topsporters worden begeleid om een opleiding te kiezen die bij hen past en die ze voor 10% van hun beschikbare tijd moeten volgen. Op die manier worden de competenties aangescherpt. Er wordt ondersteuning voorzien voor de hoger onderwijsinstelling om de nodige faciliteiten en begeleiding mogelijk te maken. Topsportscholen: Onderwijs, topsportsfederaties en Sport Vlaanderen organiseren samen de topsportscholen in Vlaanderen. Via de opleiding die topsporters krijgen in de topsportscholen worden onder andere competenties ontwikkeld die de combinatie topsport en studie op latere leeftijd moeten mogelijk maken of die de topsporters vormen om o.a. professioneel topsporter te worden. Les athlètes entre 14 et 22 ans sous statut avec «Adeps» sont invités par mail et par courrier postal pour participer aux différents SportHEMA (orientation, information et réorientation). Le thème du SportHEMA est adapté au groupe d’âge des athlètes.
Stand au Salon SIEP (Namur) sur l’avenir et les métiers. Les athlètes avec un statut « Adeps » peuvent demander un rendez-vous (face to face) pour les informer le jour même au Salon SIEP.
S’il y a un besoin spécifique en matière d’orientation, les athlètes peuvent bénéficier d’un conseil d’orientation privé avec des psychologies du SIEP.
Les sportifs sous contrat ont 2 rendez-vous par an avec le référent projet de vie d’Adeps.
Il y a une personne identifiée pour la gestion de la demande des sportifs au FOREM (métier – emploi).
Aide aux entretiens d’embauche via des experts externes (marché public puis accord de collaboration).

Elke Vlaamse onderwijsinstelling kent zelf topsportstatuten toe waardoor topsporters faciliteiten en flexibiliteiten kunnen gebruiken, zoals een aangepast studietraject. Elke topsporter mag zelf kiezen welke opleiding hij volgt, maar niet elke opleiding is even goed combineerbaar met topsport. Via het ‘Topsportstudentenproject’ wordt er voor topsportsters van het hoogste niveau een convenant (contract) afgesloten waardoor bepaalde faciliteiten en begeleiding door de onderwijsinstelling verzekerd wordt.
