COMPARISON OF ADJECTIVES (superiority)

Adjetivos "cortos" o "largos"

1º tenemos que diferenciar si los adjetivos son "CORTOS" o "LARGOS" (tanto para comparativo como superlativo):

Son los adjetivos monosilabos, y los bisilabos acabados en "Y":Big, fast...Easy, lazy...

LARGOS

Son el resto de adjetivos bisilabos y todos los de más de 2 silabas:Boring, narrow...Beautiful, intelligent...

Veamos como se forman

empezamos con los "CORTOS"

Si acaban en "-y" ésta se quita y añadimos "-ier" (comparativo) o "-iest" (superlativo)

Si son monosilabos y acaban en Consonante+Vocal+Consonante se duplica ésta última (CVC -> CVCC) y añadimos "-er" o "-est"

Al fin al del adjetivo, añadimos "-er" para el comparativo y "-est" para superlativo

Si acaban en "-e" muda, sólo añadiremos "-r" (comparativo) o "-st" (superlativo)

RULE

a continuación los "largos"...

Al resto de adjetivos que no entran en la categoría anterior, se les pone delante "more" (comparativo) o "most" (superlativo)

Se traduce como: "...más (adjetivo) que..."

SUPERLATIVE

Se traduce como: "...el más (adjetivo)..."

RULE

Mandy is a clever girl. Rose is cleverer than Mandy. Christine is the cleverest girl in the class. My car is new. Peter's car is newer than mine. Charle's car is the newest. A bike is long. A bus is longer than a bike. A train is the longest vehicle.

This party is nice. Christmas parties are nicer than this party. Birthday parties are the nicest SuperLopez is brave. Indiana Jones is braver than SuperLopez. Superman is the bravest. A 20 pieces puzlzle is simple. A 10 pieces puzzle is simpler than a 20 pieces. A 2 pieces puzzle is the simplest.

A dog is heavy. A lion is heavier than a dog.. The elephant is the heaviest animal in the sabanna. Sponge Bob is lazy. Calamardo is lazier than Sponge Bob. Patrik Star is the laziest. A ladybug is prets. A butterfly is prettier than a ladybug. A mantis is the prettiest.

Summer is hot. Boiling water is hotter than summer. Lava is the hottest. A car is big. A van is bigger than a car. A plane is the biggest. A pencil is thin. A wire is thinner than a pencil. A paper is the thinnest.

A fox is intelligent. A monkey is more intelligent than a fox.. A dolphin is the most intelligent. Grazalema is beautiful. Zahara is more beautiful than Grazalema. Olvera is the most beautiful town. Cicling is a dangerous sport. Climbing is more dangerous than cicling. Paragliding is the most dangerous sport.

Jerez is far from El Gastor. Madrid is farther than Jerez.. North Shore (antipodean of El Gastor) is the furthest. A cold is bad . A flu is worse than a cold. COVID-19 is the worst.

The Iphone 6 is late..The Iphone X is latter than Iphone 6. Iphone 12 is the last. Frodo is Olid. Bilbo is elder than Frodo. Gandalf is the eldest.
