Dutch colonized the actual New York in 1624 as they found an uncultivated unsettled island. home to Native American tribes. The Dutch named their new territory New Amsterdam after having established a trading post.

construction of the famous wall

The wall was built in 1663 in order to separate the citizens from the indigenous tribes but essentially to protect their settlement from them. Now it is known as Wall Street.

New Amsterdam taken by the British

New Amsterdam was taken over by the English and the Duke of York gave his name to it and became New York (which is the actual name)

1860 is the year where buildings were started to be built because buildings show the wealth and the power of the United States. New York have more buildings than any other city in the wolrd. Indeed, Manhattan is the birthplace of the American skyscraper and they built some because of a lack of space and their willing to design up instead of out. Also, in 1860 was built one of the most ICONIC building: the Empire State Building and was the first skyscraper.

From 2002 to 2013 the Twin Tower were in reconstruction. It shows the determination of the New York citizens (inaddiction to its wealth). A memorial has alson been included in the city to pay tribute to all the victims. New York City became a triving metroplis and one of the most exciting cities in the world thanks to its history and unique character. This amazing town is sometimes refers to the capital of the wolrd.

In 1883 the Brooklyn Bridge was built and opened essentially to connect Brooklyn and the island of Manhattan making it easier for the workers and the merchants ti get onto and off the island. It was a way to develop the trades and the economy as exchanges could be done much easier.
