This was put together to allow for additional considerations for distance learning. This act allows us to share copyright materials in a distance learning environment, however this adds some caveats and requirements for using copyrighted material in distance learning. Click to read more about what you have to do.

Fair use is the general law that says copyrighted materials can be used for transformative purposes. Traditionally this includes education, parody, and criticism. However, just being inside of an educational institution does not automatically make our purpose of showing something educational. It must be tied to your objectives.

• DO NOT RECORD sessions with media from other locations
• It must be tied to an educational purpose
• Chunking longer films help you prove the educational purpose
• When in doubt have students access it on their own screens!
• Don't be afraid to ask! Reach out to creators!
