International project on the importance of social networks
WHAT ARE SOCIAL NETWORKS?
Social media are digital media and methods that enable users to network on the Internet, i.e. to exchange ideas and to create and pass on media content individually or in a defined community or openly in society.
Facebook Instagram Twitter Snapchat Whatsapp TikTok
In social media it is particularly easy to find new friends, to share common interests and to feel part of a group. This is usually faster and more successful in the network. In addition, you are mostly unobserved and undisturbed by parents and adults. Often, however, some people can abuse social networks, coming to suffer serious consequences. What are these consequences? Here we show you some examples
Over the past 25 years the rates of anxiety and depression among young people have increased by 70%. This extreme increase is largely due to social media. Everyone shows their best side on social media, so that an unrealistic picture of reality emerges. This often creates an inferior and insufficient feeling in young people, which also affects their body image.
Sleep also suffers from social media. Especially the app "Yotube" robs many young people of sleep. General use of the mobile phone before going to sleep also affects the sleep. The LED lights block the hormones that are responsible for tiredness and sleep.
Hate speech / Cybermobbing
Very many people fall victim to cyberbullying, especially children and young people are affected by this problem. Cyberbullying means deliberately and repeatedly hurting, insulting, etc. people via social media. The victims often feel helpless due to the anonymity of the perpetrators. Most of the victims no longer enjoy going to school, have poor grades and a lack of motivation. Sleep disorders, depression and anxiety disorders can also result from hate speech.
