Rosa Parks sat down in a bus after a hard workday. She sat in the ‘colored zone’ at the back of the bus.
A white man changed the white/colored card because he wanted a seat .
But Rosa Parks refused to get up. She wanted to have the same rights as white people. She thought it wasn’t fair. The police came and gave Rosa Parks a $14 fine. They took her to prison.
There was a Bus Boycott. Black people refused to take buses. They walked and buses were empty. The Boycott was a success.
During the Segregation, black people had their own waiting rooms, hotels and theatres. They were separated from white people.
There were demonstrations against segregation and inequality. Black people wanted racial equality.
The bus driver asked Rosa Parks to give her seat to the white man.
Martin Luther King decided to react because he thought it wasn’t fair.

Rosa Parks was born on February 4, 1913, in Tuskegee, Alabama (USA).She died on October 24, 2005, in her apartment in Detroit, Michigan (USA) at the age of 92.She was a Civil Rights leader whose refusal to give up her seat to a white passenger on a segregated bus led to the Montgomery Bus Boycott.Her bravery led to nationwide efforts to end racial segregation. Parks was awarded the Martin Luther King Jr. Award by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal.
