3. Dreamy School Subjects !

Small Task / Homework:

Present your favourite Hogwarts class, in front of the class - you can use the internet to find information about it, beforehand.Say what the class is about, where the classes take place and why you like it.

My favourite Hogwarts class is Flying.Flying is a subject taught at Hogwarts. This class takes place on the field. It is taught by Professor Rolanda Hooch, the Hogwarts Flying teacher and Quidditch referee. In this class, pupils learn how to fly on a broomstick.I love this class, because it would be so cool to learn how to fly on a broomstick and how to play Quidditch! My favourite Hogwarts class is Potions.Potions is a subject taught at Hogwarts. This class takes place in the dungeons. It is taught by Professor Severus Snape. In this class, pupils learn how to make / brew potions. They follow specific recipes and use various magical ingredients to create potions.I love this class, because it would be so funny to learn how to make potions! I would like to learn how to make an invisibility potion, for example...

4. Muggle and Magical School Places

Describe Hogwarts and Arretxea. What can you see? Can you compare these two schools?

There are six different buildings and houses, and two playgrounds. The houses have a lovely particular style called the "neo-Basque" style, with their traditional red and white colours. The other schools are definitely different, and this special architecture is what makes Arretxea so unique! There are 318 pupils, in Arretxea.

Look at the wonderful view from there!!!This is "La Rhune". It's a Basque mountain.

Hogwarts is a very old castle. It's in (the Highlands of) Scotland. There are a lot of towers and very deep dungeons. There are a hundred and forty-two staircases in it!In the foreground, we can see the Great Lake. The water looks dark and cold! There is also a massive stone staircase, leading to the castle. There are 1,000 pupils, in Hogwarts.

Hogwarts is older than Arretxea. / Arretxea is more recent than Hogwarts.Hogwarts is bigger than Arretxea. / Arretxea is smaller than Hogwarts. There are more pupils in Hogwarts. / There are less pupils in Arretxea.

MORE+ adjectif long + THANEx : He is moreintelligent thanme. Il est plusintelligent quemoi.Avec les adjectifs courts(une seule syllabe), et avecles adjectifs qui se terminent par -y, on vasimplement ajouter –ER à fin de l’adjectif, puis THAN. Attention, pour ces derniers, le y setransforme en i !Ex : He is smarter than me.Il est plusintelligent quemoi. She’s happier thanhim. Elle est plusheureuse quelui.2. Comparatif d’égalité en anglais (pour dire « autant que », « aussi...que »).En anglais, on utilise : AS+ adjectif (inchangé, quelle que soit sa longueur) + ASEx : He is asnice asyou. She is asintelligent ashim.

The view from here is quite nice too! :)

What's your favourite place? What's your least favourite place?Pick out your favourite place. Why do you like it so much? Can you compare the Hogwarts one and the Arretxea one?

Examples:My favourite place is the canteen, because I love eating so much! Moreover, it's the place where I can spend some time with my friends.I prefer the Great Hall because it's bigger and more beautiful than our canteen. My favourite place is the library, because I love reading a lot. Moreover, it's the place where I can read in a very quiet atmosphere.I prefer the Hogwarts library because it's bigger and more beautiful than our canteen. They have got more books than in the library, in Arretxea!

5. Don't forget your potion class, at 2!

Look at Harry Potter's timetable very carefully.

What time does he start school? What about you?

What time does he finish school? What about you?

When does he have Herbology? Potions? History of Magic?...What time does he have Charms on Fridays? Potions on Mondays? Astronomy on Wednesdays? What about you? When do you have...? What time do you have ... on ...?

What time doesHarry Potter start school? He starts school at 9 am.What times does Harry Potter finish school? He finishes school at 4 pm (except on Wednesdays). When does he have Herbology? He has Herbology three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. What time does he have Potions on Mondays? On Mondays, he haspotions from 11.15 am to 1.15 pm.

How to say or read the time.1st way (rappel):Donner les nombres, en les lisant simplement de gauche à droite.Ex: It's 12.33: It's twelvethirty-three. It's8.56: It's eightfifty-six.2nd way:(cf image)
