We have two different sites to play with again this week. You can create an original poem on poetry machine using any of the 48 templates. Follow the directions provided with each template and fill in the gaps provided with your own words. This is a great way to learn about different styles of poetry. Click on “poetry machine” above or follow this link to begin. You can also create an original poem at POEMIX. In POEMIX, you insert two different pieces of text and the software mixes the word from these texts together to create new poems. Click on “POEMIX” above or follow this link to begin. Be sure to share some of your creations with our community: Email poems created with poetry machine or POEMIX to Daniel and he will post them on the “Creative Writing” LCGuide. Please put #communitypoets in the subject line. Poems submitted to be posted as a #communitypoets poem will not be entered in the #UCQpoetrycontest.

Put your own stamp on poetry using this week’s webpage. With poetry stamp, you can change words in randomly generated lines of poetry to create new poems that have your own personal “stamp.” Click on “poetry stamp” above or follow this link to begin. Be sure to share some of your creations with our community: Email poems created with poetry stamp to Daniel and he will post them on the “Creative Writing” LCGuide. Please put #communitypoets in the subject line. Poems submitted to be posted as a #communitypoets poem will not be entered in the #UCQpoetrycontest.

This is a classic! The original magnetic poetry kit gives you random “magnetic” words that you can move around to create your own poem. If you “start over,” you will be given a new set of words to create another poem. Click on “original magnetic poetry kit” above or follow this link to begin. Try the other poetry kits available on play.magneticpoetry.com as well. Be sure to share some of your creations with our community: Email poems created with the original magnetic poetry kit to Daniel and he will post them on the “Creative Writing” LCGuide. Please put #communitypoets in the subject line. Poems submitted to be posted as a #communitypoets poem will not be entered in the #UCQpoetrycontest.

We have two different sites to play with this week. The first brings a little challenge to our community word play. Letter link poetry begins with a random selection of letters. You need to choose letters to make words. You then need to create a poem using the words you have created. If you would like a little extra challenge, use the timer. Click on “letter link poetry” above or follow this link to begin. The second is a good tool to find words that rhyme. Insert your own word in the search box, and the rhyme zone software will give you a list of words that rhyme with your word. Click on “rhyme zone” above or follow this link to begin. Be sure to share some of your creations with our community: Email poems created with letter link poetry to Daniel and he will post them on the “Creative Writing” LCGuide. Please put #communitypoets in the subject line. Poems submitted to be posted as a #communitypoets poem will not be entered in the #UCQpoetrycontest.

If you are having trouble finding an image to match your poem, this week’s activity might help. Using visual poetry, you can create an image from the words of your poem. Click on “visual poetry” above or follow this link to begin. For more inspiration with your images, you can view a slide show of the poems and images that have already been submitted for the 2021 #UCQpoetry contest on our website.
