Head:Lexeme- an item that functions as a single meaning unit.

The anatomy of a Morfologist

Left leg: derivational morpheme - words added to change the function of a word given in a sentence

Right leg: inflectional morpheme- modify words to indicate grammatical properties such as plurals.

non cattenative opperations - phonological alterations

concatenative opperations-combination of morphemes

suffix- an affix added at the end of a word

prefix: an affix added at the beginning of a word

morph

clitic- an unstressed word that normally occurs only in a combination with another word. I am = I'm.

left hand: bound morpheme

right hand: free morpheme- a morpheme that can stand on its own meaning.

stomach: affixation- adding an eelement to a word and changing its meaning.

Heart: Root- the basic form to which other morphemes are atttached

Brain: Morpheme- the smallest meaningful unit in a language
