Revista académica trianual, afiliada a la Contemporary Women's Writing Association, que evalúa de forma crítica la escritura de autoras que han publicado desde aproximadamente 1970 hasta el presente. Especialmente en ensayos que van más allá de la lectura de un solo texto para desafiar el pensamiento existente o extender los debates sobre un autor, género, tema o perspectiva teórica y relacionar el análisis literario con contextos culturales e intelectuales más amplios.

Las contribuciones de académicos e intérpretes de prestigio internacional exploran todos los aspectos de repertorios musicales anteriores, presentan nuevas evidencias para la comprensión de la música del pasado y abordan temas controvertidos de la práctica de la interpretación.

La AHA fue fundada en 1884 para la promoción de los estudios históricos, la colección y preservación de documentos y objetos históricos y la difusión de la investigación histórica. En consonancia con la misión de la AHA, la AHR ha sido la revista de cabecera de la profesión histórica en los Estados Unidos desde 1895, una de las pocas revistas en el mundo que reúne a los estudiosos de todos los campos principales del estudio histórico.
