Describe this picture
The Power of Fiction
This man is a White Walker from the series Games of Thrones. He looks like a zombie. He has blue eyes and his skin is deadly white/ pale. He is really scary and threatening.
Watch
How is the atmosphere? Why?What do you think this video was made for?
Watch the first part of the video
At first, the atmosphere in the video is gloomy and frightening : it is wintertime. It’s snowing. The only character is a monster/ a zombie. He is a terrifying warrior, carrying a long sword and armour. The music and the voice are dramatic. But then the White Walker falls into the lake, which is really funny. There is a contrast between the atmosphere and the event at the end.
This video is really funny. This is a parody of a trailer of the series Game of Thrones. At first, we think it is a trailer and then we understand it is a parody. This video was made to make people laugh. But there is probably another objective : maybe it is about the environment, because the ice breaks.
Watch
Were you right?
Watch the second part of the video
What kind of video is this? Explain.
This video is about global warming. It tells/ warns people about the danger of global warming and climate change.
It is a spoof made by Green peace. This parody/ spoof is meant to warn people about the environment, about global warming because it is bad for the environment. It is dangerous for the planet. It causes climate change.
Choose a poster and analyse it.
Tarzan is swinging on lianas but as the trees have disappeared, there aren't any lianas left. Tarzan is going to fall. So if the forest is destroyed, Tarzan will disappear. He symbolizes the species that live in the forest and lose their habitats due to deforestation. This poster deals with the issues of deforestation.
WWF Poster
The usually frightening Darth Vader has become as gentle as a lamb, a symbol of purity and innocence. The villain is representing Noah saving animals from the flood. This poster was made by WWF to warn people about endangered species. The slogan reads "For once the dark side saves the planet". This is a clear reference to Darth Vader. The other logo "Switch off the lights..." means that, for the first time, being on the dark side ( when the lights are switched off) is the best option. Using less electricity is good for the planet.
