1. Working in the Virtual Space. Give 100% of what is best about your talent, your leadership, your effort and your behavior during every rehearsal. This is a new process for all of us, and you will need to be willing to take risks. 2. Please be on Time for All Rehearsals. Like in the professional world, early is on time. Early is at least 5-10 minutes before the rehearsal is scheduled to begin or your call time. 3. Do Your Homework. Your academic work should be your major focus. We also need you to meet the deadlines which have been established for the production. Failure to do so will not only let others down, it will the harm production. Keep in mind that the PHS No Pass, No Play Rule is in effect. Please make sure that you stay eligible to compete/participate next term. 4. Please be physically and mentally prepared to work when rehearsal begins. Please arrive soon enough to give yourself the needed amount of time to warm up mentally, vocally, and physically. You will need to remember the changes and adjustments made during the process. I don’t want to redirect every time we meet. Be off book as soon as possible. The real work starts once you know your lines.

Tardy and Absence Policy

  • 1. Rehearsal time is sacred. For this reason, all absences not reported in writing to the Stage Manager 24 hours in advance will not be excused. Company members will make every effort to attend every rehearsal. The Directors always strive to work with other organizations and conflicts. Conflicts listed on the audition form will always be excused, without prior writing. Any other absences must be reported in writing to the Stage Manager 24 hours in advance. Accumulation of 3 unexcused absences is an automatic dismissal from the production.
  1. 2. Students need to be at rehearsal READY TO BEGIN at the called rehearsal time. This means in the rehearsal space, with any prior warm up already completed. If a company member needs to be tardy, they must provide the reason to the stage manager in writing 12-24 hours in advance. Telling the stage manager an hour before will result in an unexcused tardy. 3 unexcused tardies = 1 unexcused absence. Students will check in on CHARMS at the beginning of every rehearsal. The check in station will be located with the Stage Manager and will be available for check in 15 minutes before call time.

Costumes and Setting. We will be discussing costumes and ideal settings for filming. The costume process with be a collaboration because we are not meeting in person. I will give details of what is needed, and we will work together to create the look of the character. Physical Appearance and Hair. Please do not drastically change your physical appearance or hair without visiting with Mrs. Hopper. Hair styles in productions need to adhere to the style and cut of the period.

Our Code of Conduct is a Part of Our Rules. Read the Code of Conduct and respect the guidelines set down in that document. If ANY BREACH of these rules occurs, we will ask anyone to leave the ensemble. Theatre Handbook Ask Questions if You Don't Know. Feel free to ask questions at appropriate times. This is how the process and show will evolve and grow. However, a show (at a certain point) cannot be directed by committee. Thus, final decisions will have to be chosen by one objective eye: mine. Be cautious, then, about the suggestions you force upon others. Most times it is offensive to a fellow artist to impose your interpretation upon them. Be Good to Yourself. To get better we all must be open to constructive coaching. Don't beat yourself up. The coaching that is given in rehearsal is meant to make you better, not meant to make you question yourself. View the director's comments as a way to grow- not a reason to regress. Until We Open, you are an Ambassador for Our Show. All teams have great, average and even bad rehearsals. We don't want to give away too much of the show too early. What you say about our process and each other in front of others affect the show. This is good "pre-professional" practice for you. Know that what happens in these four walls stays here. Comments, which you make about the production, are positive in nature both within the theatre and outside the theatre. Do everything you can do give the show good press.
