There are a few key differences in how you should administer CPR depending on the age of the victim.

CPR: The basics

-Use head-tilt/chin-life maneuver (past neutral)-Use breathing barrier-Pinch nose shut-Each breath ~1 second-Total of 10 seconds

-Position your shoulders over your hands-2 inch compression; complete recoil-100-120 per minute-Count out loud to 30

-Heal of one hand in the center of the chest.-Other hand on top, interlace fingers.-Loosen or remove clothing if it interferes with hand position

Give 2 Rescue Breaths

Give 30 Compressions

Common Problems

-you notice obvious signs of life-an AED is available and nobody can assist you with the AED-you have performed 2 minutes of CPR and someone else is available to help you-you have performed 2 minutes of CPR, you are alone and caring for a child, and you need to call 9-1-1-EMS takes over-you are too tired to continue-the scene becomes unsafe
