Technologies can enhance partnerships with whānau/iwi and the wider community and facilitate on-going reciprocal two-way communication between students and parents, giving parents anywhere, anytime access to their child's learning (real-time reporting). This leads to improved learning outcomes for students through blended, culturally inclusive, and sustainable practices.

As we witnessed first hand in COVID-19 lockdown, education is changing from being delivered either in a traditional face-to-face classroom or via distance learning to a more blended approach. Students learning is personalised yet exists within a network, facilitated in part by digital technologies.

Digital tools can be used to inform, engage, consult and collaborate with the wider community in a culturally responsive way.Digital tools can share, enhance and create blended learning opportunities, both at home and at school. They can also be used to report on real-time progress, as well as capture and archive learning in place-based locations beyond the school.

Renee Strawbridge (DP Mt Biggs School) explains how they use Seesaw to connect parents and whānau with student learning. Making connections

Technology is an enabler for; access and inclusion, growing home/school partnerships, sharing and blending learning oppportunities, social action and change.
