THE BAY OF THE RIVER SOMMEFIELD COURSE

Please, report bugs - if any

Start

RGE's Somme river bay field course

A sedimentological analysis on various outcrops in the Northwestern part of France (Picardie, Paris basin) to illustrate the variety of modern siliciclastic depositional processes and facies in shallow marine, coastal and littoral environments, and to observe the interactions between multiple sources of sediment transport & reworking: river, tides and waves.Reservoir potential shall be evaluated on each outcrop.

Base mapfor reporting

Field course deliverables - A3 geological map of the Somme river bay sediments (based on actual observations in the field), with a clear & clean legend.- One page of text (max.) explaining the map (i.e. geological evolution of the bay, summary of main characteristics of observed depositional environments and agents, expected reservoir quality of each facies,…). - “Flint’s odyssey“ (1 page): summarize the story of flint-stone gravel, from cradle to grave (from chert formation to final flint accumulation and facies). You can make a comic-type (or manga-type*) drawn story if you feel like.
