Plague time library procedures

Students in the library

  • There are 6 passes for the library at any given time. Students will be able to check out/return books, or use the space to study/work on assignments.
  • If there’s a class in the library, students with passes will be sent back to class and an email will be sent so teachers know the student should be coming back and why. Feel free to call in advance just to see if we're free!

Checking out books

  • Two self checkout stations will be located on the oval table in front of the circulation desk. Students will need to use their ID badge. A bottle of hand sanitizer will be next to the station for student use after checking out.
  • Plan B available if we’re having badge issues.

Library Catalog

  • The online card catalog will no longer be pulled up on two computers on the oval tall table in the middle of the room. Instead, QR codes will be up around the library so students can pull it up on their phone to browse books in the collection.

Printing

Students will not be able to print in the library. This is in order to limit high touch surfaces as well as due to the fact that personal devices and Chromebooks cannot print to the desktop printers.

Classes in the library

Reservations are limited to one class in the library at a time. Email/come chat with me to work out times for your team. I will send you a calendar invite once we’ve decided on times. They will also be posted on the library canvas page. Classes have two options to do whole class book checkout.

  1. Reserve the library for the period. You will have access to the projector and computer for your class and will conduct class in the “classroom” space in the library. 2-3 students at a time will migrate to the “book” area of the library to locate books and check them out.
  2. Notify me that you want a class visit. I will put together a cart of books based on your request and will come to the classroom for book checkout from the cart.
