As we are linked to the trip to Uk next year, we continued projecting our desire to know this place. For this reason, we made the cover of the subject in relation to the trip. We watched images of iconic places, monuments and landscapes of the United Kingdom so as to get inspired. ‌ The technique used was chosen by us, but we should not forget to work figure and background.

  • Map of the city, streets, subway (route & stations)
  • Buses: lines, its history and characteristics
  • Information about historic and tourist sites in Uk: construction, objective, architectural or sculptural characteristics, dates of construction, function in the city, visiting hours and their location in the city (map with location).

Sharing our investigation

Despite the fact that we still don't know when we will travel because of the Covid-19, it’s a fact that we will have our educational and sports tour to the united kingdom. That’s why, during Art classes, we have been investigating about a particular destination of our tour which is the city of London. We collected a lot of information about the history of the city and its most attractive and interesting touristic places, so we prepared a presentation based on all this and we presened it to the 4th year students (who will travel together with us)

THEATRE PLAY´S POSTERS

While analysing the posters that our teacher sent and showed us, we realized that each of them has a different typography and plays with the size as well as the position of the letters. To start working on our own poster, I looked for the following 3 photos that show posters of plays that interested me precisely because of the choice of font:

SEARCH AND ANALYSIS OF A TYPOGRAPHY OF OUR CHOICE

Then we had to choose a typography that we liked. It could be from a magazine, a newspaper, searched on the internet or even printed. Consequently, we find out which type of font that typography uses. I chose two fonts, the first is "CABJ", the abbreviation for Club Atlético Boca Juniors, which uses the font called "College", and the second is "UBER", the name of an online transport company, which uses a font called Arkhip.

NOW IT'S OUR TURN

Finally we had to cut and paste these words on an art sheet of paper and thus begin their visual analysis of directions, curves, sizes, spaces, etc. Above these fonts we had to trace (with a microfiber or a black pencil) lines of height, separation between each letter, which curves did it had and the height of these curves, etc. In addition, we also had to measure the spaces between the letters and the thickness of each one.

ARTISTIC COMPOSITION BASED ON THE INDIVIDUAL RELATIONSHIP WITH THE CORONAVIRUS

Topics to work: Synthesis of achromatic values, the world of graffiti, Bansky (one of its most prominent representatives), incorporation of color with another technique (collage, fibers, acrylic). ‌We had to think about what we wanted to represent in our drawing that reflects our relationship with the pandemic. For this, we looked for images that inspired us, photos of the world, of the virus, of its characteristics, where it cames from and of its consequences. Think about the characteristics of graffiti when putting together your idea and what you want to convey. It can be how you feel, what happens and what happened, what caused, how man is today, etc. Once the idea is chosen, it performs: Take a photo of yourself or a fanmiliar member and with an image processor takes its colors to a black and white synthesis. There you will see the gray values. The character must be in a position that you want for the composition you draw. Then draw that image to start the graffiti. Then it incorporates the rest of the images, keeping the figure in synthesis of values and incorporates color to the rest of the image. We worked with the elements distributing the shapes so that our ideas were understood.

"The Phantom of the Opera"

To begin with, we searched for the costumes of the play´s main characters: Erik (the phantom) and Christine Daaé.Then we observed the characteristics of both costumes and draw them only linearly with black pencil. Finally, we observed and worked with the color, light and shadow of the fabrics and details.

Based on the Bauhaus poster

First, we investigated about the Bauhaus and analized its posters. After that and developing our idea for a poster taking into account the distribution of elements, color, shapes, typography and having made corrections, we had to paint the chosen design with the primary colors plus black and white with the acrylic technique. We used color planimetry (no textures should be seen). My poster is the following...

Now, one for our trip...

After practising doing the logo with our names based on the Bauhaus, our teacher told us to create one for our UK Tour.We made the first draft in paper, just to have an idea how the final one would look like. Then we recreated it digitally using any tool or app that we wanted.

How to draw a human body properly

We were taught step by step how to draw a human figure. The very first thing to have in mind were the proportions of the body. One version of the proportions used in modern figure drawing is: -An average person is generally 7-and-a-half heads tall (including the head).-An ideal figure, used when aiming for an impression of nobility or grace, is drawn at 8 heads tall.

Personal Photographs

We were told to take a photo of ourselves standing. Then, using any photographic editor, we measured our head and then we marked how many times it entered our entire body.Later, we did the same with a photo of us in motion.

Personal Photographs

To continue, we made a sketch of a human figure extracted from what is observed in the photo of our choice.Consequently, we edit the photo, drawing lines to mark our hips, column and shoulders, then arms and legs. Later, once we finished practising above the photo, we draw on a sheet of paper this lines that configure our human figure, always respecting the measurements (helping us with those of the head)
