Al Nour wal Amal is now mostly known for its orchestra worldwide. However, it also helps these women in their day to day life by discovering new interests, making them feel as part of a community and by empowering them. First section

Overview

The first section consisted of interventions with classes at the Lycée Français du Caire (October). It first started with representatives of the association coming to the school and explaining to the students who they are and what they do. Then (November) the students participated in an activity titled Dialogue in the Dark. Finally, based on what they learned they applied it to activities at the school (February).

Very enthusiastic, she's doing plenty to support the visually impaired to deal with the challenges which they are facing everyday.

Then she came to school to raise awareness amongst our students and engage with them to help develop an interest in the matter.

Menna first introduced us to Dialogue in the Dark and helped us in conceiving our plan.

Dialogue in the Dark

Dialogue in the dark is part of Al Nour wal Amal's projects. The goal is to make people feel what it is like to be blind. During the activity, participants learn to draw and to identify objects while being blindfolded or totally submerged in the dark. Through this experience, they are guided by a visually impaired person.

Dialogue in The Darkجزء من مشاريع النور والأمل. الهدف هو جعل الناس يشعرون بما يعنيه أن تكون أعمى. خلال النشاط ، يتعلم المشاركون الرسم والتعرف على الأشياء أثناء تعصيب أعينهم أو غمرهم بالكامل في الظلام. من خلال هذه التجربة ، يتم توجيههم من قبل شخص ضعيف البصر.

PARALympics

After learning about what it feels like to be visually impaired. Students organised paralympics to help communicate this message to other students at the Lycée Français du Caire with the help of their teacher Mr.Keraron. It involved a series of games in which students had to demonstrate teamwork to be able to overcome these difficulties.

Overview

For the second section, volunteers partnered up with school club Alizés to organize a small concert with Al Nour wal Amal where both students (with the help of music instructor Ms.Poirier) and individuals of Al Nour wal Amal performed different types of musical art. Furthermore, a small lunch was organised.
