Welcome to Key Stage 2

Welcome to Blouberg International School! My name is Samantha Kiley and I have been Academic Head of the Junior School for the past 15 years, which starts at Nursery with children aged 2½ and goes right through to Year 6, which is the year our children sit their final Progression Tests for entry into Year 7, being our first year of High School. The school was only 3 years old when I joined the Blouberg International family, although our holding group, IES has been in operation for the past 125 years. Our staff is both nationally and internationally trained in both the English National Curriculum and Cambridge Primary Programme. Our curriculum covers the holistic development of each child; offering not only an international prospectus, but life long learning skills in sport, cultural activities, as well as Mathseeds, Mathletics and Reading Eggs, which are all online additional learning tools. During their Coding and Robotics lessons, the children gain further knowledge about the world around them and how to best navigate life’s challenges. In Key Stage 2, your child will be entering a world of interesting challenges, excitement and discovery. Key Stage 2 covers the Cambridge Curriculum from Years 3 to 6. Key Stage 2 comprises of Year 3 to Year 6. English, Mathematics and Science with the newly added Design & Technology, Digital Literacy, Music and Physical Education Programmes form the core subjects for the Cambridge Primary Curriculum. Sporting Activities

MUSIC Class Music is enjoyed from Pre-Reception to Year 8. From Year 9 the students can choose music as a subject. We offer tuition in: Recorder | Piano | Strings | Brass Flute Clarinet | Saxophone | Voice Percussion | Drum kit | Marimbas Acoustic, Electric and Bass Guitar.

CREATIVE ARTSArt programmes encourage students to be creative and use their imagination as much as possible. The Cambridge IGCSE Art & Design syllabus aims to encourage a personal response by stimulating imagination, sensitivity, conceptual thinking, powers of observation and analytical ability.

DRAMAAt Blouberg International School we endeavor to unlock the talents of our students through various dramatic arts opportunities. Students are able to express themselves through stage productions of the highest calibre.

ROBOTICS

Robotics forms part of the curriculum at Blouberg International School. It is offered to students from Pre-Reception to Year 6. Robotics is a ‘hands on’ approach to learning, where students build and design simple mechanisms from their environment whilst learning through play with Lego Simple Machines. Whilst building activities range from rescue helicopters to racing cars, rovers and trains, skills learnt involve an integration of Mathematics, Science and Languages.
