Add text or objects to a slideInsert a text box or object
- On your computer, open a presentation in Google Slides.
- Go to the slide where you want to add a text box or object.
- At the top, click Insert.
- Choose what you want to add, then click Text box, Image, Shape, or Line.
- The object will get added to the slide and you can arrange or format it however you want.
Add, duplicate, & delete a slideInsert a slideTo add a slide with the same layout as the current slide:
- On your computer, open a presentation in Google Slides.
- In the top left, click New slide .
- On your computer, open a presentation in Google Slides.
- In the top left, click New slide with layout .
- Choose a slide.
- On your computer, open a presentation in Google Slides.
- At the left, click the slide you want to duplicate.
- If you want to duplicate multiple slides, hold the Shift key and click them now.
- Right-click and select Duplicate slide.
- On your computer, open a presentation in Google Slides.
- At the left, click the slide you want to delete.
- If you want to delete multiple slides, hold the Shift key and click them now.
- Press Delete or Backspace on your keyboard.
Add an image to a document or presentation
- On your computer, open a document or presentation in Google Docs or Slides.
- Click Insert Image.
- Choose where to get your image from.
- Upload from computer: Insert an image saved on your device.
- Search the web: Search the web for an image.
- Drive: Use an image saved to your Google Drive.
- Photos: Use an image from your Google Photos library.
- By URL: Insert a link to your image or insert a .gif.
- Click Insert or Open.
Add a video to a presentation
- On your computer, open a presentation in Google Slides.
- Click the slide where you want to add the video.
- Click Insert Video.
- Select where to get your video from:
- Search YouTube
- By URL
- Google Drive
- Choose a video.
- Click Select.
Change themeA theme is a preset group of colors, fonts, backgrounds, and layouts.
- On your computer, open a presentation in Google Slides.
- At the top, click Slide Change theme.
- On the right, click the theme you want.
Transition Video Add slide transitions
- On your computer, open a presentation in Google Slides.
- On the left, click the slide you want to transition to.
Share with specific peopleIf you use a Google Account through work or school, you might not be able to share files outside of your organization.
- Select the file you want to share.
- Click Share or Share .
- Under "Share with people and groups," enter the email address you want to share with.
- Important: If you share with an email address that isn’t a Google Account, they can only view the file.
- To change what people can do to your doc, on the right, click the Down arrow Viewer, Commenter, or Editor.
- Choose to notify people.
- If you want to notify people that you shared a doc with them, check the box next to Notify people. If you notify people, each email address you enter will be included in the email.
- If you don't want to notify people, uncheck the box.
- Click Share or Send.
- Viewer: People can view, but can’t change or share the file with others.
- Commenter: People can make comments and suggestions, but can’t change or share the file with others.
- Editor: People can make changes, accept or reject suggestions, and share the file with others.
View a presentationTo present a full-screen presentation in Google Slides:
- Open a presentation in Google Slides.
- In the top right, click Present. For best results, present with Google Chrome.
- From the current slide, the presentation will become full screen. To change slides, use the arrow keys on your keyboard or click the arrows at the bottom of the presentation.
- To exit full-screen, press the Esc key.
Add slide transitions
- On your computer, open a presentation in Google Slides.
- On the left, click the slide you want to transition to.
