CLASSIFICATION OF POPULATION

Non-working population: the people who can't work (children, retired or sick people) Working population: the people who are able to work. They can be employed (they are working) or unemployed (they are looking for work).

People can work in three economic sectors: - Primary sector - Secondary sector - Tertiary sector

There are people who work to get RAW MATERIAL (materias primas) from nature. They make up 5% of the working population in Spain. The most important sectors in Spain are: - agriculture-cattle raising (ganadería)- fishing

PRIMARY SECTOR

The workers in the secondary sector make products from raw materials. They form 30% of the working population in Spain. The main industries in Spain are: -The food industry-The car industry - Construction.

SECONDARY SECTOR

They are the people who work in the SALE of products or services. They form 65% of the working population of Spain. Most of them work in:- Tourisim-Transport- Commerce-Services (teachers, police, fire fighters, lawyers, doctors...)
