IMAGINARY LINES
On maps there are imaginary lines. We use these lines to describe a location on the Earth's surface. - There are semicircular vertical lines from the North Pole to the South Pole. These are called MERIDIANS. -There are circular hotizontal lines around the Earth. These are called PARALLELS. We can combine longitude and latitude to describe any location on Earth.

ROTATION AND REVOLUTION
The Earth has two different movements:1. ROTATION: is the movement of the Earth on its own axis. The Earth takes 24 hours (1 day) to rotate. 2.REVOLUTION: is the movement of the Earth around the Sun. The Earth takes 365 days and 6 hours to make a complete orbit around the Sun.
ROTATION
rotation and revolution
The Earth spins on its own axis.
It takes the Earth 24 hours to make a complete rotation.
The Earth's rotation causes day and night.
REVOLUTION
rotation and revolution
The Earth orbits around the Sun.
It takes the Earth 365 days and 6 hours to make a complete orbit of the Sun.
The Earth's axis is tilted. This and the revolution cause the 4 seasons.
