Weekly Gratitude & Other Tidbits...click through the pages
Thanks, Tech Wizards
Just wanted to say...
Gratitude
I think of you all several times each day and I smile. I know I keep saying it, but I'm so thankful for all the ways that you're supporting our staff and our schools. Each week brings new crazy challenges, and you all find ways to find creative solutions, be the calm in the storm, and bring positivity to others! There have been so many compliments about how incredible our department has been throughout this! You all make me so unbelievably proud!
What's Happening?
I reached out to the Director of I.T. and we are resuming our EdTech - I.T. liaison meeings...probably every two weeks! Please let me know if there's anything you'd like me to ask or share. I'll be sure let you know what I learn from the world of I.T. after our meeting this week!
Elementary: teams, Onenote, Seesaw & Flipgrid
We started remote learning with a unified & decisive plan to use platforms that were already working for teachers & students. Because elementary had good systems already in place, it just makes sense to stick with them. I talked to the Director of Elementary Ed twice on Friday, and we unanimously decided that elementary is not moving forward with Schoology for the remainder of this school year. Rather, we will do some PD later this school year and into the summer, with a gentle (not 100% expected) rollout in September. She shared this news in the cabinet meeting on Friday.I
Secondary:Schoology
Glad to hear that secondary is moving ahead with Schoology! Admins are super excited about this, and they feel that it is important to find a "common ground" solution so that middle and high school teachers, students, and families have a common/unified place where they can expect to do teaching/learning. It is a good decision to get everyone at the secondary level on board with this ASAP.

Our next Department meeting
- I'm sending a FindTime to you all later this week, so hopefully we can get together virtually next week!
Is there anything you need?
- Resources?
- PD opportunities for you?
- A brainstorm buddy?
Staying Connected
Smiles
Don't forget to smile! We're not just surviving - we're thriving! You guys are the best!
Again, I just started to bring this up so that admin is aware that it's something we want to pursue. I will also address this with Joe K in our meeting - just so it's out there.
ClassLink
I just touched on this with administration - didn't want to go too deep until after the governer's announcement. It is likely, but not sure what it will look like (in person or virtual).
