WHAT IS KANOPY?
Kanopy is a film streaming service offering access to a large, curated collection of films that are educational, entertaining, and enriching.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Library members receive 10 free play credits each month. Each film you watch uses one play credit and each play credit grants you 72 hours access to watch the film as many times as you like.

What you will need
By default, your PIN will be your date of birth DDMMYYYY.
Visit the Kanopy website at https://shoalhaven.kanopy.com.It is also available on our Digital Library page at https://shoalhavenlibraries.com.au/Digital-Library under the Entertainment section.
If you have a library card, your member number is located on the back of your card starting with a capital S. If you are a digital member, your member number starts with 555. If your member number starts with S, you must use a capital S when logging in.
Click Add Library Card to begin.
Enter your Member Number in the Library Card Number field and PIN, then click Continue.
Sign up with Google/Facebook or enter your name, email and create a password. Click sign up.
Your member number must start with a capital S or 555.
Your PIN (DDMMYYYY) does not contain slashes, hyphens or dots.
You will receive an email asking you to verify your account. Visit your email inbox and open Kanopy email. Click Verify. You will be taken to Kanopy's website and your account will be verified.You are now ready to begin watching!
To log in, visit https://shoalhaven.kanopy.com/ and click Log In.
Enter your email and password, then click Log In.
If you registered with your Google or Facebook account you will need to log into this account.
The front screen of the website displays highlighted categories including Trending, Newly Added, Recommended, as well as special categories curated by Kanopy staff.
You can also browse all categories by clicking Browse near the search bar.
You can also roll over the Browse menu with your mouse cursor to reveal categories.
PLAYING A FILM
To play a film, hover your mouse cursor over the film cover and click Watch.
This will take you to the film page where you can play the film, read a synopsis of the film, or read reviews from other library patrons. Tap the Play button to begin watching the film.
Each month you have 10 play credits to use. Your play credit balance is displayed in the top right corner.
PLAYING A FILM
Once the film has started, hover your mouse over the video to bring up the playback bar. Click each for more information.
This button is used to Pause/Play the film.
Tap on language from menu to enable captions.
This button is used to adjust the volume of the film. Use the slider to adjust or click the speaker icon to mute.
This slider is used to move back/forwards in the video.
This time is the time remaining of the video.
This button allows you to adjust the playback speed of the video. Videos can be slow down or sped up.
This button enables captions.
This button is used for Picture-in-Picture functionality. It moves the video to the bottom right of your screen, and it will continue to play even if you move to a different tab in your web browser.To go back to normal, hover over the video using your mouse cursor and click square icon.
This button is used to make the video full screen. If you wish to exit full screen, press the Esc key on your keyboard.
To access My Dashboard, click on your name in the top right corner and click My Dashboard.
My Dashboard allows you access your Watchlist, Viewing History, Comments you have made, Playlists as well as Edit your Profile, among other things.
YOUR WATCHLIST & PLAYLISTS
To add a film to your Watchlist, hover your mouse cursor over the film cover and click +My List.
To view your Watchlist, click on your name in the top right corner and click My Watchlist.
You will see a green tick if the film has been successfully added to your watchlist.
From My Watchlist, you can play a film, share/embed or remove it from your watchlist.
YOUR WATCHLIST & PLAYLISTS
To create/add a film to a playlist, hover your mouse over a film cover and click Watch. This will take you to the film page.
Click Create Clip/Playlist
Enter your playlist name and click Create. If you have previously created a playlist, click Add video to add it to the playlist.
To access My Membership, click on your name in the top right corner and click My Memberships.
My Memberships allows you add a card e.g. if your Member Number gets updated.You can also add another card from a different library service (if they also subscribe to Kanopy)
ACCESSING KANOPY KIDS
To access Kanopy Kids, from the top menu click Go to Kanopy Kids
Kanopy Kids is a curated collection of children's films for ages 2 and up, with a focus on ages 2-8. Kanopy Kids has unlimited play credits.
Kanopy Kids functions the same as normal Kanopy for browsing, searching and playing films.
To Exit, click on Exit Kanopy Kids.
To access click on your name in the top right corner and click Parental Controls.
Parental controls allows a PIN top be set. When enabled, the PIN must be entered to exit from Kanopy Kids.
Click Turn On and enter a PIN of your choosing. Click Save PIN to finalise.
To remove your PIN, enter your PIN and click Turn Off. To change your PIN, click Change PIN.
To access Kanopy Support, click the Support link at the bottom of the page. Alternatively, visit https://help.kanopy.com/hc/en-us

Kanopy uses a pay-per-view model, and Shoalhaven Libraries’s subscription works on a monthly cap. When that cap is reached, access to Kanopy will be unavailable. Don’t worry, though – it will become available again on the first day of the next month.
