The steam machine was invented 250 years ago by James Watt. Before this, objects were made by hand. With the steam machine objects could be made by machines in factories. It was part of the Indusrial Revolution.

The steam engine

The steam engine was also used in ships and trains. People and products could travel much more quickly from one place to another.

The telegraph was invented about 170 years ago by Samuel Morse. This was the beginning of the Communication Revolution.

THE TELEGRAPH

The telegraph sent tapped messages.

The telephone was invented about 140 years ago.

Now, we use computers and smartphones.
